What is the Difference Between Impact Crusher and Hammer Crusher?

Date:2022-03-18

Impact crusher and hammer crusher are the most common crushing equipment, widely used in mining, metallurgy, cement, building materials, chemical industry, hydropower and other industries, but what is the difference between these two crushers? How to choose? This article aims to answer these questions for you.

The four most representative differences between an impact crusher and a hammer crusher are the principle of use, the scope of application, the adjustment method of the discharge particle size, and the wear rate of the wearing parts.

1. The different principle of use

The impact crusher relies on the plate hammer to impact and crush the materials put into the crushing chamber from bottom to top, and throw the materials on the impact liner to be crushed again. Hammer crusher strikes the crushed material in the direction in which the crushed material falls.

2.Different applications

The impact crusher adopts a fixed rotor structure, and the moment of inertia of the rotor can bring more power to the machine, so the impact crusher can crush large and hard materials. The impact crusher can also handle materials with high water content, without the need to configure a sieve plate, a heating device can be added between the feed port of the impact crusher and the impact plate to prevent the wet materials from sticking and blocking the machine. The feed of the hammer crusher is generally less than 400mm, which is suitable for processing small pieces of materials with slightly lower hardness. It is not recommended for hammer crushers to process relatively wet materials.

3.Different discharge particle size adjustment

(1).Impact crusher

The impact crusher can adjust the size of the discharge opening in various ways, such as adjusting the rotor speed, adjusting the gap between the impact plate and the grinding chamber, etc. The gap adjustment can be adjusted mechanically or hydraulically. The adjustment of the gap is completed by the local operation button or the movement control system.

(2).Hammer crusher

The Hammer crusher adopts a replacement grate plate to control and adjust the discharge particle size.

4.Wear rates of wearing parts vary

The load of the impact crusher is mainly on the blow hammer. When the rotor speed is normal, the feed material will fall to the surface of the blow hammer (the striking surface). There is little wear on the side of the material, and the bottom grinding rod is easy to replace, so the wear rate is low. The main working part of the hammer crusher is the rotor with the hammer (also known as the hammerhead). The motor drives the rotor to rotate at a high speed in the crushing cavity. The hammerhead needs to be repeatedly beaten on multiple sides.

There are differences between impact crusher and hammer crusher in terms of use principle, application range, discharge particle size adjustment method, wear rate of wearing parts, etc. Does this mean that impact crusher is superior? In fact, it is not. It depends on the customer's own handling of material types and hardness, capacity, the particle size of input and output materials, etc. In addition, professional engineers can also recommend to you to ensure that each piece of equipment cooperates with each other to create greater value.
